Layout

The layout of a page made with comet has been thought as a table. So a page contains sections, those sections contain rows which contain columns and columns contain page elements.

What is the difference between sections and rows ?

Sections and rows are quite similar regarding the settings. The difference is that rows could have custom width while sections have compulsorily full width.

How to add a section, a row or a column ?

Due to the layout rows are always inserted into sections such as columns are always inserted into rows. The Comet editor has a sidebar that contains the layout tool which is always the first among the page elements and cannot be hidden or removed. This layout tool allows you to insert a section, a row or a column by dragging and dropping.

To add a section:
  1. Hold the layout button and drag it over the content area.
  2. Drop it on the choosen area (A placeholder points the area out).

An empty space is displayed because it is not rendered yet. By adding a section, a row and a column have been created too.

To add a row:
  1. Hold the layout button and drag it over a section.
  2. Drop it on the choosen area (A placeholder points the area out).

By adding a row, a column has been created inside.

To add a column:
  1. Hold the layout button and drag it over a row or around existing columns.
  2. Drop it on the choosen area (A placeholder points the area out).

Note that adding a column redefines the columns width.

How to access sections, rows, columns or elements options ?

By hovering over a page element or a column (if there is no page element in the column) a button appears. When clicked, the button displays a menu:

  • S: section options;
  • R: row options;
  • C: column options;
  • E: element options (if hovered).

The four have the same options:

  • Settings;
  • Move ( by holding and dragging );
  • Duplicate;
  • Delete.
